Our last leg of the anniversary trip was Malaysia, to celebrate our anniversary and two weddings-my brother's and a good friend's.
It was a short, event-packed and fun trip and highlights included exploring Batu Ferringghi on moped, a funicular train ride up to Penang Hill (which Henry hiked down), two beautiful weddings and of course, the always amazing Penang food.
My brother Alan's wedding was done as two separate occasions: a casual holiday villa dinner party in Batu Feringghi and a formal wedding luncheon in a Straits Chinese heritage rowhouse in the heart of old Georgetown. The intimate wedding luncheon was absolutely beautiful, the food delicious and the location made us feel like guests in a banquet 200 years back in time, sans traditional costumes.
My lovely new sister-in-law had her gorgeous gown designed by her twin sister, with a detachable skirt so she could wear it two ways, a super mini for the casual villa party, and with a fancy skirt for the formal luncheon.
No Malaysian trip would be complete without another visit to the Batik factory and introducing Henry to the notorious Durians, the tropical King of Fruits!
Nothing beats a trip home for me, leaving was painful!
